A Touch of Rejuvenation and Health

What is acupressure?

Acupressure is a fascinating form of touch therapy that’s been used as an alternative medicine technique for centuries. The concept behind acupressure is based on the idea of Life Force or Life energy that flows through specific pathways in the body known as ‘meridians’. When this energy flow gets disrupted, it can cause bodily functions to go off track, leading to various health issues. In the treatment, physical pressure is applied to specific points with the aim of clearing blockages. It helps to correct functional imbalances and restore the flow, thus returning the body to a more natural state of well-being.

What are the benefits of acupressure?

Acupressure therapy stimulates the body’s circulatory, lymphatic, hormonal and blood systems. It helps relieve stress and anxiety, improves sleep, relaxes your muscles and joints, regulates digestive issues, minimises headaches and migraines, and is also beneficial for back pains and menstrual issues. Positive results from acupressure can be seen within one session or may need multiple, depending on the severity of your concern—it differs from case to case.

Acupressure and rejuvenation

The first visible sign of aging appears on our skin which looks thinner, saggy and dry due to impaired collagen production. Stimulating specific spots and areas, especially the fascia, encourages a regenerative process. Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber, and muscle in place. This tissue provides more than just internal structure; the fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as the skin. When stressed, it tightens up. Additionally, fascia is responsible for collagen production. It signals to the brain through CNS to activate collagen and elastin production when it is stimulated as a protective reaction of skin and tissues. A skilled practitioner targets the specific points on the body to activate these signals, resulting in improved quality of skin and connective tissue. Therapeutic yoga massage, which combines stretching to release tension and acupressure, gives the best results in stimulating rejuvenation processes.
